No Injuries Reported in Two Paterson Fires

Firefighters in Paterson were kept busy Wednesday morning as they rushed from one fire on Rosa Parks Boulevard to another at Mill Street and McBride Avenue.

The two-alarm fire on Rosa Parks Boulevard broke out about 6 a.m. in a vacant home. When firefighters arrived on scene, heavy fire could be seen in the interior, said Deputy Chief WIlliam Henderson.

Henderson said firefighters laid down a heavy attack inside the building. No injuries were reported and the cold weather led to icy conditions.

The second two-alarm fire broke out at 29 McBride Ave. about 7:20 a.m. and firefighters had to rush to the scene, according to Deputy Chief Mike Fleming. The building has been the site of fires in the past.

The brick building suffered serious damage, including the roof collapsing. About 60 firefighters were on scene from Paterson and Little Falls.

"It didn't spread to any other buildings," Fleming said. …
