An artist has donated his work to help keep vulnerable people in Salford safe in 2018.

Anthony McCarthy has allowed the council to reproduce his images of the city to create a calendar with a message. It will be a crucial part of a winter warmth campaign.

Hand-delivered to 1,200 residents, it carries safety messages and information and contact details of where they can get extra support.

Salford mayor Paul Dennett said: "At this time of year we visit people in the city - those aged over 75 years old, who live on their own and do not receive care.

"Visiting with a calendar enables us to check they are ok and make contact with them. The calendar includes our contact details in case they have any problems in the winter.

"It's so generous of Anthony to allow the use of his artwork with no conditions attached. …
