Axe Thugs Attack Man in Golf Club Carjacking

A GOLFER was threatened by two thugs wielding axes in a carjacking bid at his club.

The 72-year-old victim was in the car park of Altrincham Golf Club, taking his golf clubs out of the boot of his Range Rover at 8.20am, when the pair approached and demanded he hand over his keys.

Despite feeling 'sheer terror', the man refused to hand over the keys during the attempted robbery.

The offenders, who were dressed all in black, pushed him to the ground but were unable to get the keys off him.

They then sped away from the scene - empty-handed - in a dark blue Mercedes.

The victim was left with minor injuries following the incident on Christmas Eve.

Police officers are keen to trace the pair, who they suspect will strike again.

Pc Andrew Sheldrick, of GMP's Trafford team, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw a dark blue Mercedes driving at speed in the area around the time of the attempted robbery to come forward. …
