FBI Says It Is Reviewing Officer's Use of Taser Indowntown Pizzeria

The FBI is looking into the case of a Pittsburgh police officer who shocked a Downtown restaurant worker with a Taser in October.

"We are reviewing the matter in close coordination with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Pennsylvania," Catherine Policicchio, spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh FBI office, said Friday in a statement. "If in the course of the local investigation, information comes to light of a potential civil rights violation, the FBI is prepared to investigate."

Officer Ronald Hough, a 23-year veteran who is in the department's motorcycle division, is accused of discharging his Taser at Dominic Reale, 46, of Robinson inside Villa Reale Pizzeria and Restaurant on Smithfield Street about 7:20 p.m. Oct. 30.
