A MAN who sexually assaulted an elderly woman after breaking into a care home has been jailed.

'Shameless' Jake Morris, 24, has 'no place in society', police said after he was caged for the shocking attack on the pensioner, who has dementia.

He denied sexually assaulting her at the facility when interviewed by officers. During the court case Morris changed his plea and finally admitted his crime. He also pleaded guilty to burglary and assault and was jailed for six years and four months.

Bolton Crown Court heard that staff at the home went into the woman's room on January 28 last year and noticed the window was wide open - and that the seal and metal arms were broken.

They noticed the pensioner had an injury to her lower jaw and blood in her mouth.

Staff raised the alarm before searching other rooms. …
