January 18th will mark 60 years since Willie O'Ree jumped onto the ice at the Montreal Forum as a member of the Boston Bruins -- breaking the colour barrier as the first black player in the National Hockey League. O'Ree, who grew up in Fredericton, says was just interested in playing hockey and didn't realize the significance of that game until he read about it in the newspaper the next day.
