Politicians Ignore Citizens but Cater to Special Interests

The recent passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act reminds me that the special interests are in full control of our government.

Abraham Lincoln said that ours is a government of the people, by the people, for the people. That government has now become a government of the lobbyists, by the Congress,for the special interests.

Big pharma, big banks, big insurance, the super wealthy and other powerful pressure groups that are members of the oligopoly always get taken care of by Congress and the state legislatures, while the rest of us, who have no lobbying power, are ignored.

Even many politicians, including former and current presidents (Carter, Clinton, Trump), senators (Kerry, Cruz), and congressmen (Franks, Scarborough) have essentially admitted that the system is corrupt and that the ordinary citizen has no real influence on his government. …
