Armed Robber Threatened Family with Kitchen Knife

AN armed robber rang the doorbell of a house in Didsbury before threatening the family inside with a large kitchen knife.

Police say the thug stank of cigarettes as he burst into the home at around 9.45pm on Monday night.

He threatened a 55-year-old woman with a blade before turning on her husband. The man, who had a strong Mancunian accent, then stole cash and jewellery worth around £5,000, police said.

GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme and Burnage posted a report on social media.

The robbery happened on Plowley Close, which runs behind a parade of shops on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury village. Officers said that patrols in the area had been increased.
