Winter Weather Set to Return

While the temperature reached 55 degrees on Wednesday, winter conditions are returning.

Rain starting late Wednesday will transition into a wintry mix and then snow by 9 or 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

From 6 a.m. to noon on Thursday, much of Kansas is under a Winter Weather Advisory. Slick conditions on the roads are expected. The weather system will also bring in wind.

City of Topeka spokeswoman Molly Hadfield said crews will be on hand Thursday morning and will start treating main roads, bridges and hills.

The high Thursday is 33 and the low is 9.

Friday is similar with a high of 26 and a low of 10.

Wind chills will become a concern again early Friday. Before sunrise, the wind chill may be between minus 2 and minus 8. …
