Knicks' 3rd Straight Home Loss Comes in 2OT

NEW YORK - It's hard to judge what the Knicks are right now from moment to moment or game to game, so even with 41 games in the rear view mirror, hitting the season's midpoint Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, it's hard to figure them out.

Are they the team that has shown promise with a young core, possibly exceeding the rebuilding schedule? Or are they the team that lost seven of eight before surviving in Dallas Sunday

It was almost impossible even in the final seconds of regulation and through the first overtime session and then the second. If the bar for the Knicks is competing hard, they reached that. If it's beating a sub-.500 team like the Bulls once in three tries this season then they failed. The Knicks dropped a double-overtime decision, 122-119, to the Bulls.

"It's a bad feeling," Kristaps Porzingis said. "We weren't able to finish the game. We had many opportunities. We forced things, didn't take the right shot, turned the ball over or missed shots. It's all of those things."

As the game wore on, 34-year-old Jarrett Jack, who had his contract picked up for the remainder of the season Sunday, might have been the best player on the floor, feeding Porzingis for a dunk at the end of the first overtime and then again in overtime.

Kris Dunn, who had missed crucial shots in regulation and overtime that could have settled this game much earlier, hit a running bank shot with 58.2 seconds left in the second overtime to push Chicago back in front, 118-116.

Porzingis then tried to shoot over Dunn and threw up an airball with 40 seconds to play, but Jack stole the ball. This time though Jack made a mistake of his own, overthrowing Michael Beasley on the break to give the Bulls back the ball with 18 seconds left.

The Bulls finally put the game away with Justin Holiday hitting a pair from the line with 13. …
