Manufacturer Fairfield Adding 100-Plus Jobs at North St. Louis Plant

After relocating a manufacturing and warehouse facility from Granite City to St. Louis' north riverfront last summer, Fairfield Processing Corp. said Wednesday it plans to add more than 100 full-time jobs over the next five years.

The product filling supplier moved into a vacant 300,000-square foot section of a 420,000-square-foot building at 6432 Prescott Avenue.

Mayor Lyda Krewson attended on Wednesday an event welcoming the company to the city and toured the facility. The Danbury, Conn.-based company established its former Granite City facility about a decade ago.

Fairfield officials said the company had about 50 full-time employees here plus more than 300 others added during a seasonal upswing.

Jordan Young, the company's president, said the firm planned to retain "a great number of those jobs throughout the year. …
