Le'Veon Bell is serious about getting a long-term contract from the Steelers.

The running back told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler Thursday that he would consider sitting out the 2018 season or retiring from football entirely if the team attempts to use its franchise player designation on him again next season.

"I hope it doesn't come to that, but I would definitely consider it," Bell said."Just get the numbers straight exactly where we want them. I'm not going to settle for anything. I know what I do and what I bring to the table. I'm not going out here getting the ball 400 times if I'm not getting what I feel I'm valued at."

Bell's one-year contract under the tag for 2017 pays him a little more than $12 million - more than any running back in the NFL. The arrangement, however, comes without any long-term security at one of the most physically demanding positions in the game. …
