SADDLE RIVER — Board of Education member Tom Weng has resigned, saying the district's one school – Wandell Elementary – has made a "turnaround" and it is time for him to move on.

"Led by a fantastic superintendent, Lou DeLisio, together with the finest faculty, staff and administration and wonderful parents and children, Wandell is now widely recognized as one of the very best elementary schools in New Jersey," Weng said.

Weng, who previously served as the board's president, formally resigned on Friday. DeLisio, the district's interim superintendent, said the remaining board members have 65 days to name a new trustee. The board may advertise the vacant seat, conduct interviews at a public meeting and appoint a candidate by a majority vote, he said.

If the board fails to appoint someone within the given time frame, the new trustee would be appointed by the interim executive county superintendent, DeLisio said. …
