Delph's Fitness Still a Concern after Recent Comeback

CITY are managing Fabian Delph's fitness over concerns the England international cannot play two games a week, following his recent muscle injury.

Pep Guardiola has been so determined to ensure the makeshift left-back would be ready for Sunday's clash with Liverpool that he has tailored his playing time since returning to action at the start of the month. Delph started against Watford on January 2 - but was rested for the games against Burnley and Bristol City in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup respectively.

The 28-year-old has been one of the surprise successes for City this season - and his importance to Guardiola has soared since Benjamin Mendy was ruled out until April with knee ligament damage.

He suffered a muscle injury last month and City's medical team fear it will be aggravated by asking too much of him too soon. …
