The search continues for victims of a storm that slammed a California coastal community early yesterday, leaving at least 15 people dead, 25 injured and several more unaccounted for. Emergency crews in Santa Barbara County are still looking for dead, injured or trapped people after heavy rains set off a powerful mud flow that swept away dozens of homes -- mainly in wealthy Montecito (mon-teh-SEE'-toh). TAG: Evacuations were ordered beneath recently burned areas of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties. But authorities say only an estimated 10 to 15 per cent of people in a mandatory evacuation area of Santa Barbara County heeded the warning.

A Louisiana teacher was removed from a school board meeting, forcibly handcuffed and jailed after questioning pay policies during a public comment period. Local station K-A-T-C T-V reports that Vermilion Parish School Board president Anthony Fontana had ruled Deyshia (DAY'-shuh) Hargrave out of order for asking questions during a time reserved for public comment. …
