A WOMAN was smashed over the head with a machete by armed raiders who broke into her home.

Young children were in the Stockport house when two masked thugs wielding a metal pole and a huge blade carried out the 'despicable attack'.

The men, who wore scarves over their faces, raided the woman's bag and demanded money.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was then attacked with a machete - leaving her needing hospital treatment for serious head and hand injuries.

A woman in her 50s was attacked after she tried to call police to the home on Outwood Road in Heald Green.

Her injuries were not serious, but the family was left 'traumatised' by the incident, police said.

The men left emptyhanded following the break-in at 9pm on Tuesday, January 9. They were all wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and light grey jackets. …
