Kirkwood Board Hires New Superintendent Who Started Career in St. Louis Area

The Kirkwood School Board hired a school leader from a high-performing district in Austin, Texas, to be its next superintendent.

Jeff Arnett, deputy superintendent of the Eanes Independent School District, was hired with a unanimous vote on Saturday after a national search. Arnett's starting salary will be $220,000.

Eanes has about 8,000 students in nine schools. Its average ACT score is 27.2 and it has a 98 percent postsecondary education enrollment rate.

Arnett's 30-year career in education began in the St. Louis area, as a teacher in the Fort Zumwalt School District. He later became a communications director for Pattonville and Rockwood school districts.

"I am thrilled to come full circle, back to the St. Louis area where I began as an educator and now to the Kirkwood School District, with its proud history of academic excellence and cultural respect," Arnett said in a statement. …
