It's been nearly one year since Donald Trump took the oath of office and became our nation's president. Unfortunately, his actions, seen and perhaps unseen, plus his incessant tweets, have demeaned the office he holds, creating stressful relations with Republican Party colleagues, as well as Democratic Party leaders. His actions have also led our allies and enemies to question or rethink their relationships with the United States.

I'm particularly concerned by Mr. Trump's tweets and rhetoric toward North Korea. To say the nuclear button on the Oval Office desk is "bigger ... and works" is provocative and unstatesmanlike. Mr. Trump and the secretary of state should be taking steps to moderate tensions rather than pour gasoline on a campfire. …
