CITY have blitzed the 'Emptihad' jibes of United fans by topping a million ticket sales for league games last season.

The Blues racked up 1,026,361 sales, placing them 10th in the list of Europe's biggest ticket sellers - ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs.

United fans and supporters of other clubs constantly scan the stands at the Etihad Stadium whenever City play to highlight the number of empty seats.

And they regularly accuse the Blues of exaggerating attendances, after they posted an average of 54,019 last season, and are roughly similar at 53,989 for the current campaign.

That is because City, like other clubs, announce attendances from the number of seats sold, rather than the number of people in the ground.

United do the same thing, and that is why their official attendance for their win over Stoke on Monday night was a near-capacity 74,726, when there were clearly large patches of empty seats. …
