Steelers' Gilbert Suspended for Ped Violation

Another season, another suspension for a Steelers player.

This time it's offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert, suspended by the NFL Monday without pay for the next four games for violating its policy on performance enhancing substances.

Gilbert's suspension begins immediately, according to a statement from an NFL spokesman. He will be eligible to return to the Steelers' active roster on Dec. 18, the day after their game against the New England Patriots at Heinz Field. He is not permitted in Steelers' facilities until then.

Gilbert tweeted an apology Monday night: "I apologize to my teammates, coaches and the entire steelers family. Regretfully I inadvertendly took a banned substance. I promise to come back in great shape and will be ready to play when my suspension is over."

If is the fourth multiple-game suspension in three seasons for Steelers. Martavis Bryant missed all of 2016; Le'Veon Bell missed three games in 2016 and two in 2015 to start those seasons. …
