Ridgewood's iconic sycamore tree

A most magnificent sculpture indeed, and one not hidden inside a museum but found outside for all to see and gaze upon.

Living for many years on a small island in Graydon Pool she is known as Ridgewood's iconic sycamore tree.

This beautiful tree was created by Mother Nature thus her silent beauty speaks to us all.

Her curving leafy branches, like arms, reach wide as if to encompass us. In the summer children swim and frolic beneath them sheltered from the heat of the sun.

There is an unvarnished look of truth in those white sinewy branches and they recall to us our own deepest truth.

In winter the curving white branches delineated against the open sky are like a divine calligraphy. And we are inspired to aspire and dream. …
