EAST RUTHERFORD — The Pat Shurmur era officially began on Friday. Here's a look at what members of the organization were saying about Shurmur, Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr. and more.

What does Shurmur's hiring mean for the organization?

"I hope it's a new beginning for us and it gets us back to a place that we want to be, establishing a winning culture. It's been a rough five years."

What stood out about Shurmur during the interview process?

"He gave about as good an interview, and I've interviewed a lot of coaches in my time, that's about as good an interview as I've ever been involved with. Just the more discussion we had about him and the more research we did, particularly with people that coached against him or played against him or played for him, it was all positive.

"We just had a good vibe right from the very beginning and that stayed with us right through the end of the process."

On why it was important to have someone the Giants considered a "professional" and an "adult":

"It's such a tough job. Especially coming off a season like we came off of, 3-13, with all the issues we had in the locker room and everything else. You need somebody is an "adult" and who is a professional and has a certain demeanor to walk in there and start to straighten things out. I think he has all those qualities. Time will tell."

Why was Pat Shurmur the right person for the job?

"During the process of getting to know Pat, it became more and more obvious that we was the guy for us. The commitment that he has made to us is in my opinion 100 percent. I think he's going to take his position, the responsibility we have given him as the head coach and do great things with this team."
