Cable Work Will Likely Slow Down Ringwood Traffic

RINGWOOD — Orange & Rockland has begun its electrical service upgrade in Pioneer Park.

Expected to last three to four weeks, the $184,000 project will involve significant roadway trenching to install new cables but ultimately strengthen and improve the reliability of the electric system in the neighborhood, said Michael Donovan, a company spokesman.

"This project was driven by the age and condition of the existing equipment, and designed to reduce electric service outages," Donovan said.

Olive Lane, Teak Court, Yuma Lane and a portion of Poplar Drive will all be affected to permit the installation of new underground electric cables, records show.

A 1,700-foot trench will be dug for the lines that serve seven transformers, Donovan said. The work is due to end by mid-February, but the new lines are not expected to be energized until a later date. …
