AN ARSON investigation has been launched into a blaze that destroyed a home and saw the whole floor of a block of flats evacuated.

Emergency services, including five fire engines, were called to Radnor House, in Edgeley, Stockport, at 12.45pm on Friday.

A fire had started in the kitchen of a sixth floor flat at the Moseley Street building.

The property was left badly damaged and smoke billowed out into the communal corridor.

Police and fire chiefs are now investigating the blaze, which is suspected to have been started deliberately.

No one was in the flat at the time, but around a dozen residents on the sixth floor were evacuated. Many took shelter at a nearby community centre.

Firefighters from nearby King Street station were called, as well as crews from Wythenshawe, Offerton and Whitehill. …
