Parliamentarians get back to work on the Hill today as the House of Commons resumes sitting after a six-week break.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used a speech to his Liberal caucus Sunday to rally the troops ahead of a debate on legislation to strengthen sexual-harassment protections for federal employees.

He said adding more women to politics and thwarting inappropriate behaviour by those who wield power are essential elements to creating a better country.

The speech followed a wild week that saw the resignations of the Conservative leaders of both Ontario and Nova Scotia.

And Trudeau's own cabinet minister, Kent Hehr, stepped down as sports and disabilities minister over sexual-misconduct allegations dating back to his time as a member of the Alberta legislature. (1)

Sunday's flurry of staff activity capped a tumultuous week within Ontario's Progressive Conservative party.

Just days after party leader Patrick Brown stepped down amid alleged sexual misconduct, the party's president has announced his resignation.

Rick Dykstra tweeted Sunday evening that he's stepping down after nearly two years in the position.

His departure came hours after news that two key party staffers who resigned after the Brown allegations surfaced -- his chief of staff and his communications director -- have returned to their posts under interim leader Vic Fedeli.

And The Canadian Press has obtained a staff memo indicating several other high-level positions have been eliminated in a post-Brown "reorganization" ahead of Ontario's June election. (1)
