Giants' Shurmur Gets Rave Reviews

Article excerpt

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — There has been so much speculation about how the coaching searches for the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles played out two years ago.

It's widely believed that Ben McAdoo was going to be the Eagles' choice before Giants' brass decided that was not going to happen, swooping in to finalize a deal with McAdoo to become Tom Coughlin's successor.

McAdoo was fired in December. Pederson is set to match wits with coaching legend Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots come Sunday night in Super Bowl LII.

Shurmur spent the last two seasons in Minnesota, and the Detroit native quickly became a favorite adopted son of the greater Minneapolis area in his time here.

Even the Mall of America Twitter account got involved in the Shurmur love fest Wednesday, responding to a post about the Giants' new coach with a congratulatory message: "We wish Pat Shurmur the best of luck with the Giants!"

"We all loved him," Kelce said of Shurmur, 52. "I cannot think of any one guy that had something negative with Shurm. He's a guy that is very detail-oriented. He is a happy guy that loves the game of football, but he is also a guy that demands for everyone to do what is being asked.

" He will let you know if you are doing something wrong or if he doesn't like it. …
