NAT152 - (Mtl-Mother-Child-Struck) (WATCH FOR DATING) OTTAWA. x-20s. A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car that claimed the life of his 44-year-old mother in a Montreal-area shopping centre. Montreal police say the incident, which involved a 90-year-old driver, occurred on Sunday. The mother was walking in a parking lot with her five-year-old son when they were struck by the car. Lewis Smith, a spokesman for the Canada Safety Council, says sometimes it's tough to convince seniors to give up their driving. ("..is a tough challenge.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: Smith says nonetheless he's urging family members to sit down and have that conversation with aging drivers.
