Paterson Cops Probe 3 Armed Robberies

PATERSON — Gunmen robbed two businesses and a pedestrian in three separate crimes in different sections of the city on Tuesday, police said.

The first crime took place at about 12:45 p.m. at the Orange Grocery and Deli on 11th Avenue in the 4th Ward, police said. A man wielding a gun and wearing a black mask robbed hundreds of dollars from the store and then ran away, police said.

The second incident took place at about 9 p.m. at the Dollar General store on East 15th Street, near 5th Avenue, in the 3rd Ward, police said. In that case, a man wearing a mask pulled a gun and demanded the cash from the store's safe, police said.

Someone alerted authorities and police officers arrived at the store while the gunman was still inside, authorities said. But the suspect escaped through the store's back door and was chased by officers along some nearby railroad tracks and through backyards on Highland Street, police said. …
