Harassment Settlements Should Not Be on Taxpayers' Tab

The Post-Gazette reported that taxpayers shelled out $3.2 million to cover sexual harassment legal fees and settlements over the last eight years (Feb. 1, "Harassment Complaints Cost State $3.2 Million"). How can we take our representatives and senators seriously when they are philandering and expecting us, the taxpayers, to pick up the tab?

It is time to put an end to this kind of behavior. If the state of Pennsylvania follows my guidelines, there will be no more sexual harassment by state employees, whether they are representatives or other employees.

First, except for those proved not guilty in court, a list of everyone who has had the state pay for sexual harassment expenses should be made public. It should appear in every newspaper and on broadcast news on every channel in Pennsylvania. …
