Vito Campanile Named Bergen Catholic Coach

Bergen Catholic climbed the family tree for its next head football coach.

Multiple sources have indicated that Vito Campanile, the older brother of Nunzio Campanile, has accepted the position as the Crusaders coach. He is expected to be formally introduced on Friday.

Vito will be leaving Seton Hall Prep, where he coached the Pirates for the last three seasons. Nunzio Campanile accepted the position as running backs coach at Rutgers University.

Vito, the oldest of four sons who are all football coaches, is no stranger to Bergen County. He is a Fair Lawn native who was a standout quarterback at Paramus Catholic, finishing with a then-state record 6,702 yards and 55 touchdowns in his career.

His first coaching job came at Rutherford High School where he was the offensive coordinator under John DePalma in 2001. …
