It has been somewhat of a rough season for the Pitt women's basketball team (10-14 overall, 2-9 ACC). But one of the bright spots has been Yacine Diop, a 5-foot-10 junior forward from Seton LaSalle. Diop leads Pitt in scoring at 15.4 points a game and is second in rebounding at 6.5. She also is averaging 2.4 assists a game and shooting 33 percent (20 of 61) from 3-point range. She had 19 points and 15 rebounds in a game against Duke a few weeks ago.

A year ago, Nelly Cummings was helping Lincoln Park make it to WPIAL and PIAA title games. Now he is a freshman guard at Bowling Green. The Falcons entered the week with a 14-9 record and Cummings was playing 15 minutes a game. He was averaging 4.4 points and 1.4 rebounds a contest. His best game came earlier this season when he scored 13 against Evansville. Cummings is a former Post-Gazette Fabulous 5 pick who scored 2,411 points, fifth best in WPIAL history. …
