The head of Kinder Morgan Canada says the federal government needs to step into a growing trade dispute between Alberta and B-C over oil exports.

Ian Anderson says he appreciates the strong support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shown for the company's Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

But he says he expects the federal government to help solve the spat between the provinces.

Trudeau refused to publicly wade into the dispute today, but said talks continue behind closed doors with the provinces. (The Canadian Press)

A Manitoba murder trial has heard from a social worker who dealt with 15-year-old Tina Fontaine not long before the girl's body was found in a Winnipeg river.

Kim Chute says she picked Tina up from a hospital on August 8th, 2014, and that the girl talked about hanging out with a much older man.

Chute said she took Tina to a hotel where kids in government care were sometimes placed, and urged her to stay there.

Tina's body was found nine days later, wrapped in a duvet cover and weighed down by rocks in the Red River.

Fifty-five-year-old Raymond Cormier is charged with second-degree murder. (The Canadian Press)

United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney says he did not give an ultimatum to a legislature member who used to represent the party.

Derek Fildebrandt says Kenney told him during a November meeting that if Fildebrandt wanted to return to caucus he could not run in his own redrawn constituency.

Fildebrandt said in an interview that Kenney told him the party's deputy leader would share the redrawn riding of Chestermere-Strathmore and that the party needed to grow its female membership.

Kenney -- who announced last week that Fildebrandt would not run under the party's banner in the 2019 election -- denies Fildebrandt's version of the November meeting. …
