SINCE women gained the vote 100 years ago, they have played a key role in shaping Britain politically and socially.

Amnesty International's Suffragette Spirit campaign is celebrating the centenary of women's suffrage by showcasing the incredible campaigning work being carried out by women up and down the country today.

The Manchester Group of Amnesty International are delighted to see that the Manchester Evening News has become involved in the campaign by calling on its readers to submit nominations of women who they believe to be leading human rights defenders in the area. We look forward to seeing lots of nominations from around Greater Manchester. …
