Redefining Retirement Program Seeks Volunteers

The Bergen Volunteer Center – a 51-year-old Bergen County organization that connects volunteers with nonprofit agencies who need help – announces its newest program, Redefining Retirement.

Specifically aimed at older adults who want to volunteer their skills and experience in nonprofit organizations, contribute to their communities, and learn something new at the same time, Redefining Retirement is now in its pilot phase. Working closely with the six Age-Friendly Communities in Bergen County (Englewood, Garfield, Ridgewood, Teaneck, Hackensack, and Westwood), the Bergen Volunteer Center is actively seeking retirees who are interested in being Redefining Retirement Volunteers to help launch this new program.

Based on professional experience, work, and interests, retirees seeking purposeful engagement will be connected with nonprofits who depend on volunteers with the specific skills they need to help them achieve their strategic goals and best serve their communities. …
