Homewood upcycled bowtie company invited to Facebook HQ

Nisha Blackwell, owner of the Homewood-based sustainable lifestyle brand Knotzland Bowties, has been selected as one of 12 companies nationwide for Facebook's Small Business Council. The council, which Facebook will further advise and train on ways to expand each business, will convene at Facebook's Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters later this month.

Chicago developer buys Cranberry shopping center

Chicago-based M & J Wilkow has teamed with Alto Real Estate Funds to buy the Cranberry Square shopping complex in Cranberry for $23.5 million. The 195,165-square-foot retail center, at routes 19 and 228, is 100 percent leased with tenants like Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and the Dick's Sporting Goods-operated Field and Stream store.
