Fire Crews Called to Blazes in Kitchen and Chippy

A RESIDENT was taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a kitchen, while another man was injured by a burning cooker in a chip shop.

Emergency crews were first called to a home on Church Stile in Rochdale at 8.39am yesterday morning.

Three fire teams, from Heywood, Chadderton and Littleborough, tackled the incident, which started when a towel caught fire in the kitchen. The occupier was taken by ambulance to hospital but their condition is not yet known.

A fire service spokesman confirmed: "At 08.39 on February 19 three fire engines from Heywood, Chadderton and Littleborough attended a domestic property at Church Stile, Rochdale. The fire involved a towel in a kitchen of single storey dwelling.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one positive pressure ventilation fan. …
