Bennell Branded 'The Devil Incarnate'

PAEDOPHILE former football coach Barry Bennell was branded 'the devil incarnate' by a judge yesterday who jailed him for 30 years for abusing 12 young boys between 1979 and 1991.

Sentencing 64-year-old ex-Manchester City scout Bennell, Judge Clement Goldstone QC said he had 'stolen their childhoods'.

Bennell looked down at the floor and nodded as the judge delivered his remarks at Liverpool Crown Court.

He regularly shook his head as the judge recapped his 'evil' offences, at times smiling and sighing. He also mouthed 'no', raised his eyebrows and stared at the ceiling.

Bennell smirked again when he Recorder of Liverpool, told him: "Your behaviour towards these boys in grooming and seducing them before subjecting them to, in some cases, the most, most serious, degrading and humiliating abuse was sheer evil."

The judge said Bennell had appeared to his victims as 'a God' but added: "In reality, you were the devil incarnate. …
