Need a reason to drink a margarita today? Here you go: Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day, a day to celebrate this most popular tequila-based drink served in the U.S. In its purest form, the margarita only requires three ingredients: tequila, lime and triple sec.

But no reason not to change it up now and then. Ariane Kitchen & Bar in Verona, a popular cocktail spot, does just that. It infuses tequila with pineapple and jalapeño, giving the margarita an added kick. You can enjoy it at the restaurant or make it at home (though you need two weeks to infuse the tequila).

Pineapple-Jalepeño Margarita

For the pineapple-jalapeño infused tequila:

1 liter tequila

1 pineapple, remove skin and cut up

2 jalapeños (more or less depending how hot they are), sliced

For agave simple syrup:

1 cup agave nectar

1 cup water

3/4 ounces agave simple syrup

3/4 ounces lime

2 ounces pineapple-jalapeño infused tequila (make in house)

Spicy citrus salt (for the rim of your glass; see note)

Mix together tequila, pineapple and jalapeño. …
