Mendy Still in Frame for World Cup Call from Did

BENJAMIN Mendy is still 'absolutely' in France's World Cup plans, according to manager Didier Deschamps.

The City defender made an impressive start to his career in England, however, he has been a long-term absentee after suffering a serious knee injury last September.

Mendy ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during the Blues' 5-0 hammering of Crystal Palace early in the season and was initially expected to be out until April.

However, the 23-year-old is still very much in contention to feature for Les Blues in Russia in the summer.

"He's making good progress, if not very good," Deschamps told SFR Sport.

"Now he needs to rediscover his rhythm in training with the squad, then resume competitive football. …
