NAT134 - (BC-Budget-Housing) VICTORIA. x-11s. B-C's New Democrat government has unveiled a 30-point housing plan that includes a speculation tax aimed at property owners who don't pay income tax in the province. The tax will be introduced in the fall and will amount to 0.5 per cent of assessed value this year before increasing to 2 per cent. Cameron Muir of the B-C Real Estate Association says he's concerned it will capture out-of-province owners of vacation homes in B-C. ("..amenable climates.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)
