Two Police Cars Damaged after Smash in Chase

TWO police cars smashed into each other and one of them ploughed into a fence post during an off-road chase.

The Cheshire Police BMWs had been chasing a vehicle along the M56 when it turned onto a cycle path in Wythenshawe.

One of the police cars ended up smashing into a fence post, causing the other patrol vehicle to smash into the back of it at about 2pm, a Cheshire Police spokesman said.

Photos from the scene show the smashed up cars in a wooded area just off the motorway on Wednesday afternoon.

The photos also show one of the cars badly smashed up at the front being lifted by a hoist onto a recovery vehicle.

The front wheel is missing and panelling is torn from the side.

One officer was taken to hospital for minor injuries, a Cheshire Police spokesman said.

Three men, two aged 22 and one aged 24, and two women, aged 19 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and all were in police custody overnight. …
