Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes has stopped playing golf, a longtime hobby, in an attempt to improve to his odds stay healthy, sources confirmed.

The outfielder first told the New York Post he had stopped playing in an attempt to avoid another injury-prone seasons after playing a career-low 81 games in 2017.

Cespedes is known for being a strong golfer and believes it helps his baseball swing, but the hobby has left him open to scrutiny at times. During the 2015 NLCS, Cespedes played golf prior to Game 4 and later left the series clincher with shoulder soreness.

During the Subway Series in 2016, Cespedes again had to leave a game after playing golf in the morning. Cespedes was battling a balky quad at the time, and it was not a good look for him and the organization that he played golf while less than 100 percent. …
