LYNDHURST — The school district and township are one step closer to breaking ground on a $53 million junior high school at Matera Field.

"We're definitely looking forward to seeing progress and to get moving on this, to make sure it is on track to be built in two, two-and-a-half years," said Mayor Robert Giangeruso.

The Board of Commissioners hired Piscataway-based Epic Management on Feb. 13 to provide construction management services for the proposed school. The $541,075 contract extends from March 2018 through the project's termination date, according to the authorizing resolution.

Epic Management's hiring came through a partnership with the Lyndhurst Board of Education.

Construction of the state-of-the-art junior high school is being funded by a $50 million municipal bond, with Lyndhurst contributing $2.5 million in cash for the down payment.

Four proposals were received by Lyndhurst for the services, and Epic Management was selected for being "best qualified," price and "other factors," the public notice states. …
