(Ont-Four-Dead) (Audio: 064)

Police in a small community in central Ontario are investigating the grisly deaths of four people as a triple murder-suicide.

Authorities say they believe a man killed two women and another man before killing himself in Ryerson Township, about three hours north of Toronto.

They say they got a 9-1-1 call from somebody who stopped by the home on Friday evening and found ''the tragic scene.''

Three of the dead are members of the same family and lived at the residence.

The fourth deceased is not related.

Investigators say firearms have been recovered from the scene. (11)

(Alta-Rural-Shooting)

R-C-M-P in Alberta took a man into custody after a shooting police allege happened when he confronted two people rummaging around on his rural property.

Mounties say a number of shots were fired during the confrontation before the suspects fled.

There have been calls for an emergency debate in the Alberta legislature to deal with rural crime.

In a high profile case in Saskatchewan, a farmer was found not guilty February 9th in the shooting death of an Indigenous man on his property.

Police aren't saying if the homeowner will face charges in the incident early Saturday morning.

One suspect who was apprehended suffered an arm injury and is expected to recover. (11)

(Trudeau-India-Atwal) (Audio: 075)

The B-C man -- whose invitation to two receptions with Justin Trudeau during his official visit to India sparked controversy -- is speaking out.

Jaspal Atwal says he was invited by the Canadian High Commissioner and that he volunteered to bow out of the second event after photos of him at the first one caused an uproar.

Atwal was convicted of attempting to kill an Indian cabinet minister in Vancouver in 1986.

Interviewed by the The Canadian Press at his home in Surrey, he says he made a mistake and did his time.

He claims to have a friendly relationship with the prime minister, and stayed away to save him from further embarrassment. …
