The track at Woodman Field is getting replaced.

So is the turf on the football field at Fortunato Field.

The Montclair Township Council has approved a $3.4 million bond ordinance to fund these improvements and a project to upgrade the HVAC air conditioning unit at Watchung School.

"This is part of our overall debt plan for the year," said Mayor Robert Jackson. "We still anticipate for the year 2018 that our debt will continue to decline."

Replacing the track at Woodman Field, the turf at Fortunato Field, and the air conditioning unit at Watchung School are part of a more extensive plan to improve all 11 schools in the Montclair School District.

The capital projects overall, which were proposed in November, are expected to cost about $65 million. …
