Virus Hits Hard in Dodgers Clubhouse

A virus brought the Dodgers to their knees this week in Phoenix. Some of them, probably quite literally.

The virus, causing chills, fatigue and other flu symptoms, forced as many as 25 members of the team to miss workouts or games Wednesday.

"I haven't seen anything like this," manager Dave Roberts said.

It was so bad that some players took to wearing surgical masks around the team's Camelback Ranch facilities. A quartet of air filtration devices designed to prevent the spread of germs was also brought in and lined the clubhouse.

Rangers

Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram took a little dig at the team's questionable offseason moves to bolster the starting rotation that this week included a deal with a broken-down Tim Lincecum. Wrote Engel: "The Rangers now have a dynamic rotation, if we were in the year 2008. …
