Nova Scotia's education minister says he is open to minority communities nominating members of the new education advisory council that will replace English school boards.

Zach Churchill says he isn't ruling out the idea for the two positions on the 15-member board, saying a transition team made up of board chairs and representatives will advise his department.

Minority groups, including those from the African Nova Scotian community, have voiced concerns about losing their elected representatives.

The Liberals have introduced legislation that will eliminate the school boards by March 31st. (The Canadian Press)

The peer-reviewed study on the Greenland shark was recently published in the journal Scientific Reports. (The Canadian Press)
