FleishmanHillard and Monsanto make list of best companies for women executives * The National Association for Women Executives ranks FleishmanHillard and Monsanto among the 70 best U.S. companies for women in leadership roles.

FleishmanHillard, a public relations firm based in St. Louis, made the group's top 10 list. Senior management at the firm is 53 percent female, according to a profile on the association's website, and women make up 60 percent of the top-tier leadership Cabinet.

At Monsanto, the agribusiness giant based in Creve Coeur, the association says 48 percent of senior managers are women, compared with 32 percent of total employees.

The association, which is run by Working Mother Media, selected companies based on responses to a 200-question survey. (3.07)

Bandura raises $3.5 million * Bandura Systems, a cybersecurity firm founded by St. Louisan Suzanne McGee, has closed a seed funding round of $3.5 million.

The money will help Bandura beef up its sales and marketing staff, Chief Executive Chris Fedde said. Bandura moved its corporate headquarters to Columbia, Md., when it hired Fedde last month; its engineering headquarters is in Lake Saint Louis.

Bandura is a pioneer of a technology called threat intelligence gateways. Fedde said the technology addresses "a key gap in existing security controls" by blocking millions of questionable internet addresses.

Bandura didn't disclose a revenue figure but said sales quadrupled in 2017.

Investors in the seed-capital round include Blu Ventures of Vienna, Va., Gula Tech Adventures of Baltimore and Maryland Tech Development Corp. The $3.5 million also includes money raised in St. Louis from Prosper Women Entrepreneurs, SixThirty, SixThirty Cyber and UMB Financial Corp.

Fedde said he expected Bandura to begin raising additional money in a Series A round within a few months. …
