Mielzynski seventh at World Cup event

OFTERSCHWANG, Germany - Erin Mielzynski of Collingwood, Ont., skied to her third World Cup top-ten finish of the season on Saturday at the event in Ofterschwang, Germany.

Mielzynski was seventh, tying her season-best result. After the first run, the 27-year old sat in eighth but put down a great second run, lighting up the run with green intervals and crossing the line in a time of one minute 50.72 seconds, moving up one spot.

In 2012, Mielzynski won on this track, making her the last Canadian woman to win a slalom race. Today, she was just 1.62 seconds off the first-place time. Warm conditions and rain deteriorated the track, causing bigger and bigger ruts for each racer.
