Cannon Blow for Rochdale as Midfielder Suffers Nasty Looking Injury

AS if a 2-0 home defeat by Fleetwood was not bad enough, Rochdale boss Keith Hill is faced with the possibility of losing Andy Cannon for the rest of the season.

Cannon suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone after an accidental clash of heads and, after being stretchered off, was taken to hospital for x-rays.

"I don't think it's good for Andy - I'm led to believe he has fractured his cheekbone," said Hill.

"He was going for an x-ray after the game and if that is the case then he'd be out for the rest of the season, which is such a shame as he's in good form. I just hope he's healthy and that he recovers.

"It is going to hinder us but it gives other players an opportunity. Was his injury the turning point in the game? I don't know.

"It's small margins - you look at small phases of play. Harrison McGahey did superbly to get an interception in but, unfortunately, the ball ran out for a corner. …
